If I could find
the serial number, I might tell you how old it is, but I have not been
able to find it. (Where should it be placed?)
Originally, the guitar was tobaco sunburst , exactly like the one at http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/6345/hag13.gif, but when I received it, it was chrushed under the weight of a falling Hammond B3, so I had to do a lot of carpenting. Since the wood was badly damaged, I had to choose a none-transparent color, and since my friend, the car-body-repairman, just was about to do a white car - my guitar also became white...
The bottom of the guitar body was enforced with a piece of 4 mm plywood, which made the guitar a little bit heavier. (The late Gibson ES 335 models is solid through the middle part of the boy) I dont think my repair has reduced the sound quality particularly.
Unfortunately, the electronics have lost some of its quality during the years. The pick-up's are a little bit weaker than they used to be, and the pot's are scratching and having "dead-zones". I might do another restore-work when I get some time. After all - I love the instrument!
